I had fallen of a stack of hay years ago, and severly sprained my foot and ankle. My foot and ankle were purple and swollen for weeks. I don't know how long I hobbled around on it!
I had never realized that because of this injury, I walked on the outside of that foot. While walking many miles with a sick horse, my ankle and foot became so painful, I could hardly walk. The pain would shoot up through the heal and outside edge of my foot- I was just in tears.
A few days later, I asked my pastor and his wife if they would pray for my foot and ankle. They laid their hands on my foot and prayed. God told me that I wasn't going to feel anything (no heat- like is usually felt), but that my foot and ankle were healed- I just had to believe. And so I did.
The next day, I stared at the tread mill- looking for any excuse not to get on. My foot and ankle were still hurting like crazy- so that was my excuse ;) God told me to get on, and when I was done with my 40 minutes of walking, my foot would be healed. And sure enough it was!
That's something I've noticed about God. When He heals- He often asks us to do something we couldn't do before. I was in serious pain before getting on that treadmill. But I kept going, believing what God had told me.
I know sometimes it's hard to do that- keep on believing, even though you don't see anything- yet! We've been waiting 2 years for our daughter Hailey's healing to manifest. It WILL manifest. In the meantime, we'll keep believing and pressing into God.
*****Horses' life restored.*****
I know, some may say, 'A horse? This story is about a horse? Are you kidding?'
Nope, not kidding ;) This story is about a beloved family member, whom Satan tried to steal. Katie should've died. But with this powerful testimony, I hope you realize the kind of power over Satan and death that we have at our finger tips.... if we'd only use it
Katie, our 4 year old Paint Mare came up dead lame back in January '06. We found a piece of metal, similar in size to rebar (without the spiral edge), stuck about 3/4” into her hoof- it's amazing what they can find in the mud on an old farm!
Katie was on stall rest, getting her hoof soaked in Epson's salts and 25cc’s of penicillin morning and night. I’d also been putting betadine in the puncture hole, stuffing it with a piece of paper towel (soaked in betadine), and wrapping her hoof in vet wrap to keep all debris out.
One morning, Katie limped out of her stall, as I led her up to the cross ties while I cleaned her stall, put grain/hay and watered her. She knew the grain was in her stall, so she was anxious to get back to it :) I had already soaked and wrapped her hoof, so I just needed to give her her shots. In the morning, since it’s such a large dose of penicillin, I give her 1/2 a shot in each side of her neck. Then at night I give her a shot in her rump.
I’ve been giving shots in the neck since for 15 years without any problems. I gave Katie her first shot in the neck, then went over and gave her her second shot. I waited- for some reason- extra long to make sure no blood came out the needle. Then I gave her the last part of her penicillin.
I untied her from the cross ties, and led her back to her stall. She completely switched into a different horse. She started shaking all over, stumbling, wild eyed. I let go of her and this horse who could hardly walk, bolts out of the barn frantic. Nothing spooked her, and she’s normally very level headed. Not to mention, she wanted to get back to her stall to eat her grain.
I stand there in shock and think ‘I just killed my horse.’ Old timers use to put down their horses by giving them penicillin in a vein (instead of the muscle). Sometimes people knick a vein when giving a penicillin shot in the neck, and it kills their horse. Katie just exhibited the ‘classic’ signs of this.
Without thinking I start yelling ‘Satan I come against you and your spirit of death in the name of Jesus, you will NOT take my horse!’ I kept yelling this over and over as she raced/stumbled past me. She made it to her buddy, Sage’s gate.
Our round pen is up against Sage’s fence. There’s a couple feet of clearance, then it opens up a bit at the corner of Sage’s field, but this opening ends there.
Katie who normally doesn’t care if she’s separated from the other horses, for some reason just HAS to get to Sage. She squeezes between the round pen, and the 5 strand barbed wire, and gets back in the corner. She has no where to go. This normally level headed, cool thinking horse, bolts through the 5 strands of wire. I saw sparks and turned around- I couldn’t watch. I was in total shock, but still yelling, and binding Satan and his spirit of death up in the name of Jesus.
I turn back around to see that Katie has bent over a T-post, and has some how managed to get through- breaking all 5 strands. Again, this horse who couldn’t hardly walk, is at a full gallop around the field with Sage- totally panicked- not in her right mind.
I watched stunned as they make a few laps around the field together. She came to a stop up towards the barn, but in the opposite corner. I just stand there completely stunned, and I say “God, what just happened?” Clear as day I heard “Satan tried to take her, but you stopped him.”
I’ve been studying divine healing, have realized that death, as 1st Corinthians calls it, is an enemy of God- therefore, God’s is not killing animals/people, Satan is doing it. I’ve also learned that Satan was defeated at the cross- along with all his junk.
Jesus, (Mark 16:16) before He left told His disciples, said that He would send someone (the Holy Spirit), to us. That because of this Holy Spirit, we would do the works of Jesus and greater. That we would lay hands on the sick and they ‘SHALL’ recover. As believers we have all this power over Satan at our finger tips. Standing in awe of God, watching Katie turn back into her normal self, I realized that while we have this power at our finger tips, we sure don’t use it much.
Sage walked away from Katie, and up to me. Then he looked at Katie and back at me. You could see he was confused by the whole thing. Then he walked back to Katie and stood there with her. I waded through the mud and grabbed her lead. I had tied the lead loosely around her neck while she was in the cross ties- in a quick release knot. In all the chaos she had got it untied, and it was now over her back, with the end on the ground. She had stepped on the lead, gave to the pressure (training paying off :), and waited for me to come get her.
I led her back to the barn, rinsed her legs, and saw that after tearing through that fence, she only had minor scrapes on her shoulder and at the top of her leg. I sprayed Blue Coat on them, and led this perfectly sane horse back to her stall. The look in her eyes, the poor thing was worn out.
I got back into the house with the syringe and needle. As I set them down on the kitchen counter to wash my hands, I notice the pink tinge in the tip of the syringe. I had somehow knicked a vein. Katie without a doubt should be dead- but by the grace and power of God, she isn’t!
